We’re Back!

After a long 18 months of seeing each other only on Zoom, we are now able to start rehearsals once again.

Our first get-together on Wednesday Sept 8th will take the form of an AGM (at which we will vote in a new set of committee members), combined with a song-song of some of our old favourites. The following week we will start a new programme with our new music director, Luc Bailey.

This September, more than ever, we are really looking forward to welcoming as many of you back as possible.  We understand that some of you may not be sure or feel uncomfortable about returning, so we are putting measures in place that we need to follow to help keep everyone safe:

  • All members need to be either double vaccinated or to have had a negative LFT within the 24 hours prior to the choir rehearsal.
  • Masks to be worn on arrival and departure, and when moving around the Hall until seated.
  • Members to wipe down their own chair after rehearsal using the anti-bacterial wipes provided.
  • Seats to always remain a suitable distance apart.
  • Windows will be open so as the evenings draw in, you may wish to bring a few extra layers.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Announcing Our New Musical Director

As we previously announced, Chris Owen, who led the choir as Musical Director since 2016, decided to step down from the role just prior to the start of Covid lock-down. We would like to express our warm thanks to Chris for all the hard work he has put in over the years and for helping to grow the choir into the village phenomenon that it is today!

We are now delighted to announce, as we prepare to start live rehearsals again, that we have a new Musical Director – Luc Bailey. For those of you that don’t know Luc, he used to live in the village and was our pianist a few years ago. He also leads the Gloucestershire Police Male Voice Choir, and works as a music and theatre practitioner at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.

We think Luc is an ideal choice to take the choir forward and are very excited to start working with him. For rehearsals, he will accompany us on the piano as well as conducting – although we may hire an additional accompanist for performances.
